TAISHI NISHI

From Japan, artist Taishi Nishi, holds an MFA from Kyoto City University of Arts.

His work explores the boundary between fiction and reality, the oppressive darkness mixed with a glimpse of positivity. He uses clay to create a unique atmosphere between dream and nightmare. He creates paintings that evolve from charcoal drawings, ceramic works using black clay and three-dimensional works in which mud is applied to clothing and then fired.

Major exhibitions include "14th shiseido art egg Taishi Nishi " (Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo, 2020), "Taishi Nishi + Yosuke Yano " (8/ART GALLERY TOMIO KOYAMA GALLERY, Tokyo, 2017-18), and "Kyoto City University of Arts transmit program 2017" (Kyoto City University of Arts Gallery @KCUA, Kyoto, 2017).

Taishi Nishi took part in ‘LUCKY CHARM’ a Group Exhibition of 28 International Artists. Presented by Lisa Boudet in association with Moosey Art. Opening the 4th of November 2021 at Hoxton Arches in London, United Kingdom.
